Reducing GHGs and increasing climate resilience at the University Health Network

The University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Ontario adopted various sustainability measures to reduce GHG emissions by 19% from 2010 to 2019. One of the main ways UHN is addressing GHG emission is through the use of deep lake cooling technology, which will improve the prospects of UHN’s chilled water system and save $22 million over the span of 20 years. Moreover, UHN will be including the development of the world’s largest raw waste energy transfer (WET) system at some facilities. The adoption of this system is predicted to further reduce the GHG emission in the coming years.
